The phone call to go out to see a pet pig is enough to bring on sweat in most vets that are confident in dealing with the more common pets, but pet pigs have become increasingly common and so it would be wise to be prepared when confronted with the case. The good news though, is that with a basic toolbox, both physically and mentally, it does not have to be so daunting and in most cases, a referral can be avoided.
